Taking a short(ish) detour from tidying up TBR piles by reading the rest of the Valentine's Inc series (I read the ninth book a bit ago when I was binge-reading through Crystal Lacy's stuff). The sixth book in this series is titled "Kissing Our Loves," and it's by Sammi Cee.
["Clark
I wouldn’t change anything about my life. Adopting the child my sister gave birth to is the best decision I ever made. For all of us. Choosing to work for myself so that I can be an active part of his life—a no brainer. After four years, though, my friends may be right. It’s time to at least date if my crush on the dad, the off-limits man wearing the wedding band, at my son’s preschool is any indication.
Life hasn’t gone exactly as planned with my fiancĂ© dying before we ever had a chance to get married. My days are filled with client requests and spreadsheets, but I’ll never take for granted how fortunate I am to work from home and be here for my daughter. Pursuing the dream to have a child, even if alone, is more fulfilling than I’d ever dreamed possible. Our little life seemed like enough until recently when I witnessed my high school sweetheart, Vaughn, falling in love and finally getting his happily ever after. Maybe he’s right, maybe it’s time to take off the ring and date again.
When two men take the plunge and sign up with Valentine’s Inc., is it possible they can find a love match on the first try? And if they do, can insta-love withstand the pressure of real life when two automatically means four?"]
Bailey was a side-character in "Color My Kiss." He was Poe's cousin, and Dakota recommended Valentine's Inc to him for a little relationship help/boost/confidence. This is one of the things I think I'm missing from this series: connection. In the Bold Brew series, they were all in the same town and were all loosely connected; in this series, they're connected by the app, but all over the country, and barely connected from story to story.
I loooove children (obviously, it's my job), but I love how accurately and perfectly and sweetly and naughtily that Sammi did with Todd and Sydney. It was beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful, so was this story. It was rough and not super sexy, but it was real. It was finding yourself and finding love and finding a home with someone who really understands you on a fundamental level.
It was super cheesy but in a fluffy as hell and totally perfect kinda way.
If anything, this series definitely has me adding a lot of new authors to my to-binge list. ;)
