Not sure how this series was skipped while I was binge-reading Onley James over a year ago. Here's Onley James's (yes, I know) "Play Dirty." It's the second book in her Wages of Sin series.

These two are almost like Harlow and Benito, without all of the stabbing (don't get me wrong, there is knife play) mixed with...many of the Mulvaney couples, without all of the rules (but still with all of the murder and ranges of psychopathy). They're feisty and competitive and revel in various types of violence/murder. They're mutually dominant and fight for the upper hand/hard win. They're seemingly allergic to emotions..until it's too late. It was glorious watching it all unfold.
It wasn't an easy romance. Neither would claim that. Sure, one fell harder and faster than the other, but heartbreak makes you do...crazy things. Getting back to a place after said heartbreak (and possible betrayal) is the hard part.
Who knew these two (especially Madi) could be so fucking soft?
