Here is River Hales's "Memory Lane." It's the first novel in her Echoes Duet series.
["Lane Hart
Many children claim to have memories of past lives but forget them as they grow older. Not me. I still have flashes of memories and nightmares that haunt me. I want to remember more, to remember exactly who I was.
When Harrison Copeland offers me an internship at his lab, I'm closer than I've ever been. Unfortunately, I find myself distracted by the man who radiates power and intimidation. And whose compelling hands I can’t stop staring at.
I want to remember, but I'm not prepared for the cost.
Harrison Copeland
Lane Hart is exactly what I’ve been waiting for—a brilliant young man who can help me finish my father’s research that’s been gathering dust for years. A reincarnated soul, evidence that what I seek is out there.
I shouldn’t let myself get attached to this beautiful, shy angel who calls to the devil in me, but my first taste isn’t nearly enough. However, when he remembers who he was, his past life comes back to haunt us both.
Now the soul that was luring me in is the one I hate the most."]
After binging most of her things, I'm pleasantly surprised how dynamic and complex each of River's characters are. Each person is new, each relationship is different. Its amazing.
So are these two. Even if i cried. And I cried. A lot. Most of the book. The shit hits the fan much earlier than expected in this one, which is also kind of a good thing as readers aren’t sitting with juicy dramatic irony the entire novel.
These two were complicated. It was pure chemistry one moment and then the worst of hurt/comfort the next. It was fate and the cosmos (and science I guess). It was falling in love too fast but it being so fucking right.
And that plot twist?!?! Holy fuck!! Granted I saw a tiny portion of it coming, the tiniest. But I did not see THAT coming. Fuck. Fuuuuck.
