Fight or Flight (Silvercrest U #3)

Here's the latest from Willow Dixon: "Fight or Flight." It's the third novel in her new series, Silvercrest U.

["Jace

I live my life by two simple I do what I want, and f*ck anyone who gets in my way. I also never back down from a challenge, and Shane is the ultimate challenge.

I mess with him because it’s fun, and because fighting with him is one of the few times I feel anything at all. He’s the only person who’s ever stirred any real interest in me, and after three years as rivals, it’s obvious that he’s not as straight as he thinks he is.

He wants me, he just doesn’t want to want me.

Then we’re forced to work together to steal some blackmail files from a rival frat, and the more time we spend together, the more our fights become our own brand of foreplay. Watching him lose control is the ultimate rush, so is knowing that I’m the only one who gets to see him like that.

Now I don’t just want him, I’ve claimed him, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make him mine."]

All of my TBRs/ARCs at the moment are all enemies-to-lovers. I wasn't sure how I felt about that. But this, these two? Wooow.

I loved how we got to know these two at different paces. Jace was (is) a psychopath, but he had depth and a full-range of emotions; we got to experience them as Shane was getting to know Jace. Shane was harder to understand and see at first, but he had so many walls up after all that trauma; as he let his guard go and let Jace in, we got to know him more through Jace. It was beautiful.

Plus the relationship and the plot? The feelings and the possessiveness?? Yes and yes. All of the yes.

The first one is still my favorite, but I'm quite partial to the stepbrothers trope. ;)

I can't wait for Xave's book!

Trigger Warnings: fighting, mild cnc, implied dubcon, mild knife play, previous deaths, fire, blackmail, and more.
